Promise me, Ned by Delaney02 Promise me, Ned by Delaney02
Hey, hey look!! I coloured something!

Ned and Lyanna Stark in the tower of joy during Robert's rebellion. I tried to figure out where to put baby jon, but it just wasn't happening.. So you'll just have to pretend he's in the corner of the room or something.

Had a TON of help on this - thanks to :iconkgwa: I've got a lot to learn, but at least it's a start.. better late than never, right?

This is an art trade - Hope the recipient likes it :3

----- wow, thanks for all the favs, you guys!-----

This is gorgeous beyond belief. And about the whole Rhaegar and Lyanna equating true love and Jon Snow-I'm a full supporter of that theory and I hope that the ultimate truth will be revealed with the last two books.

I'm in board too. The clues are everywhere, I can't wait to have the confirmation in the next books.

So who else here believes like I do Lyanna asked Ned to cover up her giving birth to Raygar's son?(Jon Snow) and she went with Raygar willingly as they loved one another but she died in childbirth.

Not Me xD because her death is what made Robert a crappy king I think had he not been in complete grieve with Lyanna's death he would have been a great man and king.

I'm not so certain, it did affect him greatly but even Lyanna said he was a man who would never keep to one bed and he loved his drink He was a good war leader but a terrible king, he should have never ruled. He liked people who sided with him on things and all too often turned a deaf ear to counsel he didn't want to hear. Stannis being a prime example of ones he ignored who had merit.

If there is one thing i know from a song of ice and fire is that one perspective is not always right. Everyone has their own perspectives of everyone in this book. Robert was indeed a hell of a war leader. But I believe had he gotten Lyanna he would have dropped the whores all together for her. I wont say temptation would not show itself but for her he would sure as hell try and succeed. In the conversation with Cersie we learn he is just a broken man in the end with Lyanna gone he told Cersie how she was the only thing he wanted and how him and Cersie had nothing as he just felt broken. In the show when that scenes is played out you can see Robert a shell of what he is described when he fought in the war. Charasmatic powerful and a hell of a tactician to boot against Rhaegar and his superior numbers. Robert would have been a better man and king if Lyanna had not been taken and had she not died.

You are right of course. Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our point of view.(Ah got a good Obi Wan reference in)I see your point, and as it happens can relate to it. When I lost my fiancÚ and best friend of four years nothing mattered anymore. Though I had success at everything else much like Robert did there was no satisfaction or joy since I lost her, nor is there now, why I gave up everything and joined the army actually but I'm digressing. So you might be right, save Lyanna did not feel for him what he felt for her. I think she fell in love with Rhaegar for whatever reason.

I did like how in the show they expanded on his view a lot as in the book we just have glimpses. I must say with season 3 I'm very disappointed at the deviations from the books though, especially with Stannis's character.

Lyanna was indeed not exactly thrilled with Robert to be her husband. I do blame Robert that he did not exactly give the best impression with his shameless love of wine and women and the man could have at least done something to show he would change for her. Also I'm truly sorry about your loss and hope you can find your peace friend. But as we know with in this time rarerly did the arranged marriages ever happened out of true love hell look at Cat and Ned complete strangers who actually fell in love with each other. All I can say is Robert from the point she died became the man he is today and I blame Rhaegar for taking the one thing the man held dear and truthfully wanted with all his heart and that was her love. Unfortunately life is that cruel in Westeros.

Aye, love and westeros normally end in tragedy, Red Weddings, incest or sodomy it seems.
